Fethiye, gelegen aan de zuidkust van Turkije, is een paradijs voor strandliefhebbers. Van uitgestrekte zandstranden tot kleine verborgen baaien en rustige plekjes, eigenlijk zou je ze allemaal moeten bezoeken. Nou is dat misschien een beetje te veel van het goede, daarom hebben wij voor jou een selectie gemaakt van de 9 meest indrukwekkende stranden van Fethiye. 1.Geniet op Calis Beach

Calis Beach ligt ten westen van het stadscentrum van Fethiye en trekt veel buitenlanders die in dit gebied een vakantiehuis hebben gekocht. Fethiye weerspiegelt natuurlijk de typisch, mediterrane zomersfeer die alle resorts hebben, maar geen een resort heeft zoveel prachtige stranden als Fethiye. Calis Beach behoort, naar onze mening, bij de beste stranden in dit gebied. Naast het strand met parasols en ligbedden die je kan huren, is er een selectie van watersporten. Ook heeft de gemeente de promenade gemoderniseerd om een ideale mediterrane levensstijl te promoten.

Ondertussen, aan de andere kant van Fethiye, ligt Ölüdeniz. Ölüdeniz betekent ‘dode zee’ in het Turks en wordt zo genoemd vanwege de rust en de kalmte. Het is een van de populairste – en meest gefotografeerde – stranden van Turkije, dankzij de spectaculaire ligging van de prachtige Blue Lagoon.
Je kan in dit resort naar twee verschillende gebieden. Het eerste is een lange, brede strandvlakte met uitzicht op de Middellandse Zee, dit heet ook wel het Belcekiz strand. Een wandeling langs de achterkant leidt uiteindelijk naar het tweede gebied, het strand van Kumburnu en de Blue Lagoon. Beneden bij de Blue Lagoon heb je een klein hutje, hier kun je even genieten van een verfrissend drankje. Op zoek naar meer vertier? In Ölüdeniz vind je veel bars en restaurants waar je echt even kan bijkomen tijdens een lunch of diner.
Zowel het strand als de Blue Lagoon zijn de laatste jaren een populaire toeristische attractie geworden. Door de enorme mensenmassa’s kan het er enorm druk zijn en ja, daarmee verliest het naar onze mening wel een beetje zijn charme. Het is er echter zo prachtig, dat een bezoekje zeker niet mag ontbreken op jouw bucketlist.

Het strand van de vlindervallei, in het Turks bekend als Kelebek vadesi, is puur steen en echt niet comfortabel om op te liggen. Toch noemen we dit strand en dit doen we om twee redenen. Ten eerste is het duiken hier echt fantastisch. Ten tweede nodigt de sfeer rond het strand ons uit om te ontspannen en even helemaal af te sluiten van de drukke buitenwereld. De vlindervallei heeft deze unieke sfeer, een andere wereld die je doet vergeten dat het strand tot een van de beroemdste strandvakanties van Turkije behoort. Vanaf het strand van Ölüdeniz kun je ook met de watertaxi naar deze vlindervallei, de rit biedt echt prachtige uitzichten!

Het Kidrakstrand, ook wel bekend als paradise beach, ligt twee kilometer van Ölüdeniz en bereik je dan ook na een half uurtje lopen. De schoonheid van dit strand is het lopen meer dan waard. Het stuk zand hier is ecologisch beschermd en dwingt respect af van alle bezoekers. Met het water dat verschillende tinten blauw weerkaatst en de aanwezige campingfaciliteiten, is dit de plek om weer even in contact te komen met Moeder Natuur. Een andere reden voor de bekendheid is dat dit strand ideaal is voor het bekijken van de prachtige zonsondergang waar Fethiye beroemd om is. Het strand van Kidrak is een stukje rustiger dan andere stranden en nodigt dus echt uit voor een heerlijk ontspannen dagje weg.

5. Het strand van Gemiler

Dit kiezelstrand, omgeven door olijfbomen en dennenbossen, is een groot favoriet voor buitenlanders die het hele jaar door in Fethiye wonen. Heldere wateren leiden tot ideale snorkelomstandigheden, en met uitzicht op het eiland St. Nicholas, is Gemiler ook de perfecte plek voor gezinnen. Krijg je honger, ga dan naar de nabijgelegen restaurants die snacks serveren en drankjes verkopen. Er zijn ook meerdere, simpele visrestaurants die verse visgerechten serveren. Dit strand ligt niet zo ver van Ölüdeniz en is daarmee de perfecte dagtrip vanuit daar.

Liggend in de buurt van Ölüdeniz, is dit echt een juweeltje van Fethiye. Om er te komen, volg je een lange bochtige weg die tegelijkertijd een adembenemend landschap biedt. Zodra je aankomt in het dorp Kabak, volg je het steile pad ongeveer 20 minuten naar beneden tot je het strand bereikt. Door de ontspannen sfeer lijk je wel in een hele andere wereld terechtgekomen te zijn. Op zoek naar een beetje rust na een drukke vakantie, dan mag een bezoekje aan het strand van Kabak zeker niet ontbreken.

Het eiland van Şövalye ligt vlak bij de kustlijn van Fethiye en is te bereiken via een watertaxi vanaf het strand van Calis. Breng de dag door op een van de stranden op het eiland en ga vervolgens naar een leuk restaurants voor een fantastisch uitzicht op de zonsondergang, terwijl je geniet van een heerlijk diner. Katranci, gelegen in het gelijknamige nationale park, ligt op ongeveer 15 kilometer van het stadscentrum van Fethiye. Het strand heeft allerlei faciliteiten, zoals douchecabines, restaurants, ligbedden en parasols te huur. Het strand van Katranci is als picknickplaats erg populair onder veel gezinnen. Wil je langer genieten van de prachtige omgeving en het heldere water, er is ook een camping in de buurt waar je kan overnachten.

9. Het strand van Inlice

Dit strand ligt dichter bij Göcek dan bij het stadscentrum, maar het is de omweg meer dan waard. Het duurt ongeveer een half uur om het strand te bereiken. Een van de grote voordelen is het ontbreken van drukte. Een klein restaurant aan het strand serveert essentiële snacks, maar je kan ook gewoon een ouderwetse koelbox meenemen met wat verfrissende drankjes. Het andere voordeel is het kalme water, hiermee is het misschien wel het meest fijne strand voor gezinnen met jonge kinderen.
