Er is geen maximum aan cashgeld wat je mee mag nemen volgens de Douaneregels in Turkije. De douanier mag wel vragen om aan te geven hoeveel geld je bij je hebt als je het land binnenkomt. In dat geval is het verplicht om het aan te geven. Mocht je dit weigeren of kloppen er dingen niet, dan mag de douane het geld bij zich houden en kan je een boete worden opgelegd. Let op: In Nederland moet je het wel aangeven als je met meer dan 10.000 euro op reis gaat!

Als je goederen mee hebt die douane plichtige, belastbaar of vergunningsplichtig zijn, dan ben je verplicht om dit aan te geven bij de douane. Mocht je toch door de lijn ‘nothing to declare’ lopen en ze komen er achter dat je toch regels hebt overtreden, dan kunnen er maatregelen volgen:
- Je zal alsnog belasting moeten betalen over de ingebrachte goederen
- Mocht je de verplichte belasting niet betalen, dan zullen de goederen in beslag worden genomen.
- Een gerechtelijke procedure wordt ingesteld op grond van handelen in mensensmokkel, het smokkelen van verdovende middelen en het meebrengen van goederen voor commerciële doeleinden.
